GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) - Deputies arrested and charged a man wanted in connection to an attempted murder in the Greentown community.
Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says deputies arrested Jaquan Ramell Archie, 21, of Georgetown in connection to a shooting Monday afternoon just before 2 p.m. at a home on Lincolnshire Drive. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff's office, and is being treated at Grand Strand Medical Center.
A shooting lead to a nearby school being placed on "lockout" status, officials say.
Georgetown County School District spokesperson Ray White says because McDonald Elementary School is close to the crime scene, the school was placed on "lockout" status. White says the shooting happened near the end of the school day, so the sheriff's office assisted with school dismissal as a precaution.
“There was no threat to the school,” said Assistant Sheriff Carter Weaver.
Archie is charged with one count of attempted murder.
