Two arrested after short standoff with Bennettsville police

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) - Two people were arrested Thursday after a brief standoff with Bennettsville police.

Lt. Larry Turner with the police department says officers responded to a "situation" on Crestview Drive in Bennettsville on Thursday. The Special Operations Response Team (SORT) was also called to the home.

SORT made entry into the home and the subject was taken into custody without incident, Lt. Turner confirms.

The Bennettsville Police Department arrested Koran Cousar on two counts of assault and one count of larceny. Lt. Turner says Cousar assaulted two woman outside of his home on Crestview Drive.

After a short standoff with police, Cousar was taken into custody.

Osanna Dupree was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the incident. Both individuals are incarcerated at the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
