SCAM ALERT: Scammers posing as FEMA offer to take debris away for a fee

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) - North Myrtle Beach authorities are warning residents of a new scam in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

According to the North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue Facebook page, a black pick-up truck bearing a "FEMA" sign was seen moving through neighborhoods in the north end of the city informing residents that they could remove hurricane debris for $1,500.

Officials say FEMA personnel do not operate in this manner and ask that if you see the truck, you take down its license plate number and call police at  843-280-5511.
