Missing USC student's body found in Peru

PERU (WJBF) — The body of a USC student who went missing a couple of days ago in South America has been found.

24-year-old Seth Thomas was working in Peru through a clinical program at Augusta University.

On June 23, he went on a hike by himself in the Andes Mountains, but never returned.

The U.S. Embassy in Peru was assisting in the search efforts.

School officials say it appears Thomas died in a hiking accident.

The 24-year-old was scheduled to return to the United States next week.

USC is offering counseling to any students and faculty affected by this tragedy.
