FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) -- JP Morgan Chase laid off approximately 300 employees Monday.

"Fewer homeowners are falling behind on their mortgages, so we need fewer employees to assist those who were struggling. We will work with affected employees to find openings at Chase or other local companies, " said Amy Bonitatibus of JP Morgan Chase.

JP Morgan Chase is located on 2210 Enterprise Drive in Florence, SC.

The company said it will keep the facility open.

“We continue to employ more than 1,000 workers in Florence who will continue serving our customers," Bonitatibus said.

JPMorgan Chase is one of the oldest financial institutions in the United States with a history dating back over 200 years.
