Three people were arrested after Darlington County Combined Drug Unit agents conducted a drug raid Tuesday afternoon in Darlington.

Agents had been investigating the residence at 1216 Syracuse St. for alleged illegal drug activity for some time, Darlington County Sheriff’s Capt. Andy Locklair said. They seized three grams of crack cocaine and arrested a resident at the scene during the raid, which began about 4 p.m..

They also searched a sport-utility vehicle that pulled up to the scene while the raid was under way and arrested the two people inside the vehicle, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Jurmie Nelson Thompson, 25, of 1216 Syracuse St., is charged with two counts of distribution of crack cocaine, two counts of distribution of crack cocaine within the proximity of a school, a count of distribution of a schedule II narcotic, a count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and a count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute within the proximity of a school, according to the release.

Erick McCormick, 25, and Jamie Lynn Thompson, 21, both of Darlington, are each charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, according to the release.

All three suspects are in custody at the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.
