CONWAY (WBTW) - Classmates of Rachel Ogg, an 11th grader at Horry County's Academy of Arts, Science, and Technology, are spreading the word about a fundraiser in her honor.  She is fighting a rare form of cancer.

"Everyone probably wants to get involved," said Rachel's friend, Jessica Eliah, an 11th grader who is also studying digital communications. "I felt bad and everything, and I wanted to help out."

So she and her classmates created flyers, tickets, and posters to advertise Friday's all-day fundraiser for Rachel at Moe's Southwest Grill in Conway.  The owner will donate 20% of proceeds to Rachel's fight against Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Her boyfriend, 11th grader Austin Finley, works at the restaurant.

"I talked to the owner, and he was all for it," said Finley. "It's amazing how all the students want to come together to help this one person, and support her in her bout with cancer."

"Our students always do what they've been asked to do," said Assistant Principal Jayson Powers. "It's great when students come up with an idea and a real-world application for something that's meaningful to them."

Moe's Southwest Grill is located at 201 Graduate Road, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 501 and University Boulevard in Conway.
