PICKENS, SC -

The fight for prayer at the Pickens County School Board Meeting may come to an end on Monday night.

More than 400 people attended the last school board meeting in January. All of them had one single message, to retain student prayer in Pickens county.

The student led prayer at the beginning of each Pickens County school board meeting is currently under fire by the Freedom from Religion Foundation. In January one-by-one made it clear they strongly support the prayer.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation tells us prayer at these meetings is unconstitutional, and says the board has no right to schedule prayer as seen here on the agenda. In a letter to the school board, the foundation says it will take legal action if the prayers continue.

The Pickens County school board plans to vote on a new policy regarding prayer on Monday night. The new policy would include non-denominational prayer - meaning not specific to any religion.
