SUMTER, SC (WLTX) - Eight people have been arrested following a prostitution sting in Sumter, according to WLTX-TV.
Sumter police and Sumter County deputies say they conducted their operation Thursday after receiving tips that women were soliciting for sex in the South Sumter area.
The sting worked by having undercover officers poses as prostitutes and "Johns" near Manning Avenue.
Officers charged four of the suspects with prostitution, and four others with solicitation, WLTX reported. Click here to view video from WLTX.
Annie Ruth Wells, Barbara Hodge, Cassandra Hunter and Kacy Adam Nathaniel were charged with prostitution, police said.
Brent Walter Joye, Clint Pack, Thomas Earl Evans and Windell Witherspoon were charged with solicitation, according to police.
All of the suspects have been released on a personal recognizance bond and are scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on March 7, police said.
