CONWAY, S.C. -

The suspect named in the shooting death of a Coastal Carolina University student turned himself in.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division say, 20 year old Marquis Spencer McDonald surrendered to authorities Friday.

McDonald was wanted for the shooting death of Anthony Liddell of Bennettsville. The 19 year old was a sophomore at Coastal Carolina. The shooting happened Tuesday night at University Place apartments, a CCU residence complex.

Authorities say McDonald surrendered at a gas station with a family member. He is charged with first degree murder which carries 30 years plus in prison if convicted. He's also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime which carries up to 5 years if convicted.

He apparently is not a student and authorities say they don't know the relationship between the two men.
