Florence, S.C. – In celebration of National Certified Nurses Day, the Carolina Hospital System organized an event to recognize 46 certified nurses on staff. The event offered opportunities for nurses to meet one another and share their nursing specialties such as medical-surgical, pediatric, or pain management.

Certified Nurses Day honors nurses worldwide who contribute to better patient outcomes through national board certification in their specialty.

"I am so proud of our nurses for their leadership and professionalism in earning and maintaining national board certification in their nursing specialty. This takes personal dedication and persistence and not only validates their knowledge but demonstrates their commitment to nursing excellence and to the patients we serve," said Costa Cockfield, Chief Nursing Officer of Carolinas Hospital System.

This serves as the first time the Carolina Hospital System has held an event like this in celebration of Certified Nurses Day. Those recognized at the event were given take home gifts, door prizes, and beautiful flowers.

"It's a great way to say thank you to the certified nurses here today," said Chip Osbourne, a certified Nurse at Carolina Hospital System.

Carolinas Hospital System encourages national board certification for all nurses. Many national nurse-certifying bodies should be accredited by either the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) or the National Organization for Competence Assurance (NOCA).
