MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

Police say a 31 year old man is dead after a hit-and-run accident in Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning.

According to Captain David Knipes, police were called to the scene of the accident at approximately 3:11 a.m.

Police arrested Selvin Gonzales-Escobar in connection with the fatal accident.

Capt. Knipes said Gonzales-Escobar was traveling north on Highway 17 Bypass when he struck the victim.

Police are unsure if the victim was walking alongside or in the roadway at the time of the accident. After striking the victim, authorities say Gonzales left the scene, but later came back and turned himself in.

Gonzales-Escobar, a Myrtle Beach resident, was driving a pick-up truck. The truck has damage to the front passenger side and the corner of the windshield.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the victim as Chadwick Range. Edge said Range moved to Myrtle Beach from Missouri and went to the Golf Academy of America. Edge said the victim's mother and brother moved to the Myrtle Beach area two days ago to be closer to Chadwick Range. Edge said Range died from injuries from the hit and run.
