Robeson County Sheriff's office continues to investigate the drowning of a 2-year-old who died Wednesday night after wandering into a ditch filled with water.

Lt. Kathy Torre of the Robeson County Sheriff's Office said Zaymon Locklear was outside with other family members when he wandered off.  The ditch was 3 1/2 feet high but had 2 feet of water in it.

This all happened at 4889 Cabinet Shop Road a little after 7 p.m.

There was no fence around the ditch.

Lt. Torre said right now it's an open investigation while they continue to get information.
