SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -

Surfside Beach police continue to investigate the death of Brooke Navoy, age 39, who died at 616 15th Avenue South on April 15. Two people were inside the apartment when police arrived on the scene.

The report doesn't include names but it states a 46-year-old man and 14-year-old girl were inside.  The man was on the phone with the 9-1-1 operator when police got there.

The teenager was sitting on a bed and said, "She never woke me up for school."

The police report indicates the girl lacked emotion when she walked past the victim.  The male stated he left the residence for work the night before at 9:30 p.m. and came back that morning at 7:15 a.m.  The report does tell us the relationship of the other people inside when the death occurred.

Tony Hendrick with Horry County Coroner's office tells News13 their office is waiting on the police department before they give a conclusive manner of death.  Navoy, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Surfside Beach Police Chief Rodney Keziah calls it a complex investigation and the department treats the death as "suspicious in nature."
