Friends and family are mourning the death of a young woman who was found dead in Horry County on Friday afternoon.

Amber Berbiglia, age 23, was engaged to be married later this month and was a student at Horry Georgetown Technical College, according to Facebook.

That's where she met one of her closest friends, Michael Derobbio. Derobbio said Amber was like a sister to him. They spoke about everything from clothes, to finals, to her fiancee.

"I spoke to him yesterday. He's just really upset. He doesn't believe it. He wants to find out who did it and he's really heartbroken. That was his angel," said Derobbio about Amber's fiancee.

Derobbio said Amber met her fiancee, Jose Tolsa Soler, while studying abroad in London.

"The last time I saw her we were actually looking at pictures of her dress. She showed me and she had plans to have this beach wedding and everything," Derobbio said.

The last time he spoke to his friend Amber was the day before she was killed. Derobbio called her that morning to wake her up so she could do extra studying before her final exam.

Later that night, he texted her to see how it went and never got a reply.

"She was a very uplifting person, very positive. She always knew how to make you smile or laugh. You know the kindest person, would do anything for you," Derobbio said.

Berbiglia was originally from Albany, NY and lived in the Little River/North Myrtle Beach area. She had attended high school in Ohio and New York.

She was found dead beneath a bridge that spans Green Village Road off Sand Ridge Road -– just a day after friends say she took her final exams at HGTC.

On Saturday, her fiance, Jose Tolsa Soler, who is currently living in London where he works for a hotel, posted her photo and comments.

"Always yours baby. I'll miss u so much," wrote Soler, who is from Spain, where the couple planned on making their home after their wedding, according to Facebook.

Soler's Facebook account is full of photos of the two together in London, Spain and other places in Europe.

Berbiglia's sister, who told friends on Facebook that Amber was murdered, posted a photo of Amber at her older sister's recent wedding.

"My beautiful baby sister Amber Berbiglia was murdered yesterday and i can't explain the amount of pain, anger, and confusion I'm feeling," wrote Amanda Berbiglia-Roberts.

"Most of you knew my sister...so u know what an amazing young woman she was...there is nothing I wouldn't do for more time...always keep your loved ones close...because in an instant they could be gone...please rest peacefully my amazing little sister...but please stay close."

Many others were stunned by Amber's sudden death.

"So young and beautiful had her whole life ahead of her..it's not fair n didn't deserve what happened to her," wrote Debbie Istvan, who is Amber's cousin.

"Such a beautiful couple. May god heal his heart!!" wrote Istvan, who lives in Shallotte, NC.

Classmates were also saddened by their friend's death.

"Please pray the family of Amber Marie Berbiglia. She was a very sweet girl with a bright future. My heart is heavy," wrote Dana Jordan. "She  was in my Spanish class. She was moving to Spain this month to get married. We took our final together Thursday.

Amber's brother was angry about his sister's death.

"That was my sister …that was someone's daughter… that was someone's girlfriend …that was someone's friend … you're a [expletive] and you're  getting what's coming to you," Jeremy Berbiglia wrote about his sister and to the person who killed her.
