BEAUFORT, NC -

A 42-year-old Newport woman is arrested and indicted for stealing more than $5 million between 2007 and 2012.

Susan Garcia was an accounts payable manager for Big Rock Sports, headquartered in Graham, NC.

Investigators say she used company credit cards to make personal purchases and lied on accounting records to cover up the purchases.

With the company credit cards Garcia spent money on online gambling sites, bought various things on Amazon.com and paid for personal travel expenses, officials say.

WITN-TV reported that the large sales volume of  the company and  "efforts in concealing her wrongdoing," kept Garcia's alleged fraud hidden for so long, authorities say.

Big Rock Sports, LLC is an outdoor sporting goods distributor, wholesaler, service provider and business partner to the outdoor retail market.

Big Rock has over 600 employees, including approximately 80 at its Newport, NC, offices.

Garcia will have her first appearance in Carteret County Superior Court on June 3.

She's being held at the Carteret County Jail under a $5 million secured bond.
