CLINTON, SC -

Six people were charged after a 19-year-old girl was found dead from asphyxiation due strangulation on Saturday night.

Two of those were hit with murder charges hours later, including the 29-year-old boyfriend of the girl who died, authorities say

Officers responded to Calvert Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday where they found Emily Anna Asbill, age 19, of Clinton in cardiac arrest, said Clinton Department of Public Safety Director Robin Morse.

The Greenville News reports Asbill is the daughter of a South Carolina Law Enforcement (SLED) Agent.

Morse says Asbill was taken to the Laurens County Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Laurens County Coroner's Office says Asbill died of asphyxiation due to strangulation. The teen was taken to her home by a group of people Saturday night and her stepfather was alerted to her condition, authorities said.

He then called 911 for help, authorities say.

On Monday afternoon, officials said "authorities discovered the victim was at a residence located on Fuller Road in Clinton earlier that evening where she was supplied alcohol and drugs"

Six people – all in their late 20s or early 30s – were initially charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, the Laurens County Sheriff's Department announced.

Later in the day on Monday, Michael Vernon Beaty, Jr., age 29, of 502 Calvert Avenue, Clinton was charged with murder, authorities say. Authorities identified Beaty Jr. as Asbill's boyfriend.

William Jarrell Alexander, age 30, of 50 Jaybird Lane, Cross Hill was charged with accessory to murder, authorities say.

The other four charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor are: 27 year old Charity Nichole Chiapetta of 851 Elkins Road Lot #6, West Monroe, LA; 29 year old Nicholas A. Chiapetta of 851 Elkins Road Lot #6, West Monroe, LA; 29 year old Kyle Bronson Stewart of 1341 Fuller Road, Clinton; and 28 year old Rose Marie Stewart of 1341 Fuller Road, Clinton

"Any time you work a death investigation it's always tough," said Morse, "but when you have young people involved like this, where they had their whole life in front of them, it just makes it even sadder."

The six people are being held at the Laurens County Detention Center.

Morse says the Lauren's County Sheriff's Office and the State Law Enforcement Division are also investigating the death.
