DILLON COUNTY, SC -

Dillon County investigators say a teen was gunned down Thursday night, after answering a knock at the door.

Dillon County Sheriff's Office Capt. Cliff Arnette said the incident happened at about 10:30 last night at a home on Oakland Rd. in Hamer.

Arnette said a 14-year-old boy was at his grandmother's home, and went to answer the door after he heard someone knocking.

He said that upon answering the door, someone fired several shots at the teen, striking him at least once.

The teen is now in critical condition following the shooting.

Arnette said that all indications from other residents in the area, indicated that the suspect or suspects arrived and left on foot and did not drive to the location in a vehicle.

Investigators do not yet know how many suspects are involved in the shooting, but are hoping to gather more information from the victim once his condition improves.
