Golfing with a Celebrity: Roger Clemens in field at World-Amateur

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) -- The World Amateur Handicap Championship draws people from all over the world. It includes ‘Average Joe' golfer and even a few celebrities—one of which is seven-time Cy-Young winning pitcher, Roger Clemens.

"I'm not playing too well, but I'm having fun," Clemens said on Tuesday at Wachesaw East Golf Plantation. "I have two more days and I'm looking forward to it. When I have an opportunity to play a few days in a row it's a lot of fun."

One of the guys paired with Clemens was Ricky Herman of Frederick, Maryland. Herman was downplaying the experience of riding in the cart and playing a round of golf alongside a legendary pitcher.

"What he does on his own time is his business. I'm just treating him as a golfer today," Herman said.

When asked if he was beating Roger:

"I'm not saying," Herman said with a chuckle.

So that's a no?

"No, I'm beating him. But I'm not saying."

Herman shot a net score of 75 while Clemens carded a net score of 86 on Tuesday.
