NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC -

North Myrtle Beach city officials on Friday defended releasing police dashcam video of an MTV Teen Mom and her boyfriend during a traffic stop and arrest.

Jenelle Evans, age 21, who appears on Teen Mom 2,  was in her car with her new boyfriend Nathan Griffith early last Saturday morning when Griffith was pulled over and eventually arrested.

During the arrest, Evans, who was not charged, was questioned by police and she gave various answers – including revealing that the couple's sexual desire lead to alleged speeding and swerving.

That conversation and incident was caught on tape by four different cameras  and was released to WBTW-TV, but has since spread worldwide on various websites.

Evans, now a North Myrtle Beach resident who is still married to Courtland Rogers, took to social media this week and said the video was not supposed to be released.

Earlier in the week Evans, who used to live in Brunswick County in North Carolina, also claimed to have consulted with a prominent attorney in Myrtle Beach.

But, Pat Dowling, the spokesperson of North Myrtle Beach, released a statement refuting Evans' claims on Friday afternoon.

"The City is required to release dashcam videos under the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act. Just like incident reports, they are public documents and any member of the public (not just the news media) may request and receive a copy," Dowling said.

Evans has written on social media about the sexual comments that  she made when the police asked why the 2007 Toyota was allegedly speeding and swerving around 2 am Saturday on US 17 near 25th Avenue South.

"I said we were trying to make it home to have sex… not in my car. And I had some to drink and that wasn't supposed to be released to the public and I'm very frustrated… for the video being released," wrote Evans, whose toddler son, Jace, is still living with Evans' mother, Barbara, in North Carolina.

Dowling also said that the city of North Myrtle Beach was not allowed to alter the video when it is released to the public.

"In this particular incident, four different dashcam videos were recorded via the different public safety vehicles that were on the scene, and all of the videos were released on one disk. By law the City cannot edit and does not edit dashcam videos," Dowling said.

During the incident, Griffith, age 25, was Tasered by police and later vomited in the back of a police cruiser, police said. Those incidents were not caught on dashcam video.

Since meeting with an attorney, Evans has released photos of Griffith and claiming that he was injured by police.

Griffith was charged with resisting arrest, speeding in a reduced speed zone, driving on wrong side of road, disobeying a police officer, driving under suspension, license not suspended for DUI - 3rd or sub. Offense and driving under the influence - 3rd offense.

He was held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $5000 bond.  Jenelle bailed Griffith out of jail, Radar Online reported.

Jenelle and Nathan have been seeing each other for the past three months, despite the fact that she is still married to Courtland Rogers.

Griffith was a professional fighter before working at the Wyndham Hotel in Myrtle Beach.

But, recently, he has been accepted to start fighting in the Mix Martial Arts league, according to Tweets from Jenelle.
