GREENVILLE, SC -

A memorial service for a slain Upstate woman will be held Wednesday at Brookwood Church in Simpsonville.

Johnson was last seen leaving Juniors Sports Bar on September 12th. Her body was found October 20th off Whispering Hollow Road in Greenville County.

The family said that all are welcome to attend Johnson's memorial service at 2pm.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to the Greenville Humane Society in honor of Misty's love for animals.

A man was arrested and charged last week with the murder of Johnson, age 39,  who disappeared from a sports bar in mid-September and was found dead at the beginning of November.

A spokesman for the Greenville Police Department stated that Samuel Hawkins, 33, of Greenville, was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Misty M. Johnson,  who had been missing since September 12.

Hawkins told investigators he was never at Johnson's house, but police say evidence shows he was.

Hawkins is being held without bail at the Greenville County jail. Attorney Grant Varner said his client is innocent. Varner said Hawkins knew he was a suspect for seven weeks and didn't run away. He also said his client voluntarily submitted a DNA sample.

Details of the arrest were limited, but authorities said that Johnson, whose remains was found on Whispering Hollow Road last Wednesday, was last seen at Juniors Sports Bar in Greenville.

The Greenville Coroner's office has identified Misty Michelle Johnson as the body found in a remote area of Whispering Hollow Rd. in Greenville Co.

Johnson went missing on September 13. The 39-year-old woman was last seen at Junior's Sports Bar in Greenville. She worked at Carolina Ale House on Woodruff Rd.

Her car was found in Greenville the day after she went missing.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office said they're not sure exactly how long but the body was decomposed to where it could have been several weeks.
