DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -

Darlington County Deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend in Lamar.

Captain Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office says it happened just after midnight Sunday morning at a home on Old Timers Court in Darlington County.  That home is in the Oates community.

Capt. Locklair says two men were arguing when one of the men shot and killed the other.

He says the suspect is Shayne Baxley, age 31, of Old Timers Court in Lamar.

Baxley is charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has identified the victim at 30 year old Jeffery Clayton Dolford of Olanta.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, friends and relatives mourned Dolford, who was the father of a young child, on social media.

"I Love You Jay Dolford you will always be loved and missed by me, I'm keeping family and friends in all my prayers," wrote a friend, BG Whitaker.

"Will never forget our days of laughs and fun -- that's how I'm praying. I can keep in my head in this right here. (His death) ruined the best Dad ever."

Dolford was a graduate of Manning High School, according to his Facebook page.

The Darlington County Coroners Office and the Darlington County Sheriff Office continue to investigate.
