MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

The reward for a missing 20-year-old Myrtle Beach woman has been increased from $1000 to $10,000.

Over the weekend, the reward for Heather Elvis, who was last heard from last Tuesday, was put at $1,000.

Now, a person has stepped forward and added another $10,000 to the reward.

The reward increase comes nearly a week after Elvis, whose car was found at Peachtree Landing along the Waccamaw River on Thursday night, was last heard from.

Authorities and the CUE Center for Missing Persons are still searching the area, but have scaled back the search.

According to family members, Heather's phone has been turned off and the last time it was active was around 3 am Wednesday.

One of Heather's co-workers, Megan Bonfert, says her disappearance came as a shock.

"Thursday she was supposed to work, and I sat for two hours after my shift to see if she would walk through the doors after we heard that she was missing, and when she didn't show up for work, that's not like her,"  Bonfert said.

She and several other co-workers have done everything they can to assist search crews – including passing out flyers and digging through mud at the search site.

"Not knowing anything has pretty much been playing over in my head on what could have happened to her, what might have happened to her, if I missed something during a conversation that we've had."

So far, search crews haven't had much luck.  They plan to continue to search through the Christmas holiday, to help bring closure to family and friends during a time that should be happy.

"It gives me a heavy heart knowing that she's not going to be there with her family, and that there's no justice for her family, or no answers for her family," Bonfert said.

A vigil was held for Elvis on Sunday night at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach.

Also over the weekend, the parents of Heather Elvis started a Facebook page to help spread awareness about the missing young woman.

"We are asking for our help in finding our daughter, Heather is a beautiful young woman with a heart of gold, she is so full of love and kindness, will you help us to find her and get her back home?" the page says.

The FindHeatherElvis Facebook page has nearly 9,000 members in just 2 full days. The page includes where to get a flyer for Elvis and some photos.

Anyone with information that could lead to Heather Elvis is asked to call Horry County Police at (843)915-5350.
