Investigators say they have charged a Greensboro university student with having almost $13,000 in fake money in her room after she tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill signed "Moe Money."

19-year-old Symone Vannessa Brown faces felony charges that include obtaining property under false pretense, uttering a forged security and possession of counterfeiting tools.

UNC-Greensboro police Chief James Herring says campus police responded to a call Tuesday from a drug store where someone tried use to a counterfeit $100 bill to buy a gift card. The signature on the bill said "Moe Money."

Herring says the Walgreens sales clerk questioned Brown about the bill and she left - leaving the questionable cash behind.

Herring says the clerk called authorities and while officers were there investigating, he says Brown came back to retrieve the bill.

UNCG Officers obtained a search warrant after her arrest and found $12,882 in fake bills in her room - mostly $100s.

It was not clear Thursday if Brown has an attorney.
