MURRELLS INLET, SC -

Thursday night's arrest of Randy Robinson in connection with the death and disappearance of 32-year-old Angie Pipkin is coming as a shock to those who call Inlet Estates home.

The community described as 'quiet' and 'safe' off of Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet was filled with investigators from the Horry County Police Department Thursday night, who executed a search warrant at Robinson's home along Sullivan Drive.

Authorities say in a warrant that Angie Pipkin was dismembered after she was killed.

"Even the sheriff's sergeant mentioned he had been working the area supervising deputies for nine years and [has] never been in this development," Steve Dare, who recently moved to Inlet Estates, said.

People living in Inlet Estates tell News 13 Robinson was fairly new to the neighborhood and say nothing about the 46-year-old struck them as 'odd.' While many say they never had a run-in with the man, those who crossed his path described him as friendly, ordinary and cordial.

Those impressions, neighbors say, never led them to believe Robinson had a lengthy rap sheet dating back to the mid-1980s.  According to an arrest record obtained by News 13 from the State Law Enforcement Division, Robinson has previously been arrested for criminal domestic violence, disorderly conduct, DUI and drug charges, among others.

All of Robinson's arrests were in the Pee Dee, except for those related to the Pipkin missing persons case.

Pipkin, according to police records, was last seen on January 16. According to an arrest warrant, it's believed Robinson killed Pipkin and disposed of her dismembered body at 34 Landing in Darlington County.

Robinson, of Murrells Inlet, was previously arrested and charged with obstruction of justice last week and stands accused of giving "misleading information" in Pipkin's case.
