MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (PRESS RELEASE) -

On May 17, 2010 Horry County broke ground on the Terminal Capacity Enhancement Program (TCEP) and then opened it's doors April 2, 2013.  The project included the addition of a new 240,000 square foot passenger terminal and concourse, new automated baggage handling system, new passenger boarding bridges, new passenger amenities and more. In addition, a new car rental facility with a pedestrian canopy was added to maximize the efficiency of the facility while roadway circulation was changed to optimize flow of vehicles into and out of airport property.

The new terminal building has handled in excess of (April 1, 2013 – March 31, 2014):

„h 1,600,000 total commercial passengers (March 2014 passenger levels - estimated)

„h 20,000 total commercial flights

"Myrtle Beach International Airport is proudly served by a mix of airlines including Allegiant Air, Delta Air Lines, Porter Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines and WestJet" said Pat Apone, director of airports. "At the conclusion of our 1st year of operations, it is important to thank the Airport's partners and the dedication of the Horry County Department of Airports team for all of their hard work and support that has made the last 12-months a success."
