On April 9, Darlington County Sheriff's office arrested one person on charges of trafficking heroin. Just before midnight during a traffic stop on I-20 near exit 131 in Darlington County, deputies pulled over a white Ford F-250 truck.

During the stop deputies were given consent to search the vehicle and located two laundry detergent boxes that contained 7 packages wrapped in black electrical tape.  A field test kit determined the off white powdery substance tested positive for heroin.

Deputies say the passenger,  43-year old Mariano Martinez from Myrtle Beach, claimed ownership of the drugs. The driver was issued a warning citation and released.

Martinez was arrested and transported to Darlington County Detention Center where he awaits bond.   The heroin street value is said to be worth $250,000.
