Candace Martino originates from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – The City of Champions.
Although her black-and-gold roots run deep, she found her way to the Sunshine State on a basketball scholarship. She attended The University of Tampa, majoring in both Sport Management and Communications (2017).
She accepted her first on-air sports job in Odessa, Texas (KMID), to then six months later find her way back to Pennsylvania (WJAC). Candace spent nearly two years in Happy Valley, serving as a Sports MMJ. There she covered Penn State Athletics (Cotton Bowl, Citrus Bowl, and NCAA Wrestling National Championship), high school, and the professional sports scene in the Steel City.
Candace recent graduated with her Masters of Communication at Syracuse University Newhouse (Go ‘Cuse!). She also received the 2020 WSCBA South Carolina Sportscaster of the Year Merit Award. When she’s not jogging the sidelines with her camera, sneakers, and dress, she’s more than likely at a court nearby.
Candace wants to take the viewer to where their tickets can’t. Her goal is to provide up-close access that makes those watching at home feel like they are sitting courtside. Candace believes that everyone on the roster has a story to tell, and she wants to share it – Team work makes the dream work.
