Former employee arrested, charged for strong armed robbery at Myrtle Beach store

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) - A former employee has been arrested and charged for a strong armed robbery at a Myrtle Beach store. 

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department are investigating a reported strong armed robbery involving a former security guard at the Ross Dress for Less Store, located at 1134 Seaboard Street, according to a press release from Cpl. Thomas Vest, with the MBPD. The robbery happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. 

"Officers determined that a masked man entered the store through an unlocked door and attempted to steal the cash box and money bags from a manager," the release said. "After a struggle, the subject fled with one bag of money in a red Chevrolet Equinox."

The vehicle was located a short time later and the suspect was arrested at his home within three hours of the robbery, the release also said. The suspect is identified by police as Napoleon Donzell Johnson.

Police also said Johnson is a former employee of the store and is charged with strong armed robbery. He is scheduled for a bond hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
