Social media argument leads to shooting in McColl

MCCOLL, SC (WBTW) - An argument on social media escalated into a physical fight and then a shooting in McColl Tuesday night, police say.

Investigator Bob Hale with McColl police says 25-year-old Roderick Shaquille Bridges is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime for a shooting Tuesday night around 7:25 p.m. at the Stop and Shop on Main Street.

Bridges and the male victim were involved in an argument stemming from social media and the confrontation escalated into a physical fight that went on for several minutes in the road, explains Hale.

Bridges went to his car, retrieved a .380 pistol and fired a shot that hit the victim in the lower abdomen. The victim was taken to the hospital where he went into surgery and is now in stable condition, adds Hale.

Bridges and the victim knew each other, Hale says, but did not comment on the nature of their relationship. More charges are possible.
