Murder warrant issued for Pawleys Island man in Georgetown shooting; victim identified

GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown Police Department says a murder warrant has been issued for a man previously considered a person of interest in a shooting that happened Wednesday evening in Georgetown.

That person was identified by police as 27-year-old Javon Jacob Hair, of Pawleys Island. The victim in the case was identified by police as Herman McCray Jr., 27, of Kingstree.

Hair was last seen fleeing the area of Merriman Road and Highmarket Street in a grey Audi, according to police. Police said late Wednesday that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

McCray was initially taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital for treatment but has since died.
