Conway officer-involved shooting is 20th this year in SC


CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – State law enforcement is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Conway that happened Tuesday night.

This is the 20th officer-involved shooting in 2019 for South Carolina, according to South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesperson Thom Berry.

Horry County police officers were called to the 1100 block of Pine Loop Road in Conway at about 11 p.m. for reports of a person with a gun

Once there, an officer and a suspect were involved in a confrontation and shots were fired. No one was injured, according to officials.

One person was taken into custody. The identity of that person has not been released at this time.

Charges are expected to be filed.
