Coroner identifies man who drowned at Boardwalk hotel in Myrtle Beach

UPDATE: Dep. Horry Co. Coroner Darris Fowler confirms Michael Louis Miles, 56, drowned in Friday’s incident at the Boardwalk hotel in Myrtle Beach.

According to the police report, a witness called the front desk on Friday at about 12:15 and said a man was at the bottom of the north building pool. Man had been staying at the motel for several days. The front desk was able to identify the man, who had been staying at the hotel since Oct. 8, police said.


MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Rescue crews responded to a possible drowning at a Myrtle Beach hotel on Friday afternoon.

Lt. Jonathan Evans with Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue confirms one person was sent to the Grand Strand Regional with unknown injuries. The incident happened at 2304 N. Ocean Boulevard, according to Evans.

According to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler, that person died at the hospital. The person died from drowning and the death has been ruled as accidental. Myrtle Beach Police are investigating the incident.
