Drone pilots launch aerial search for missing swimmer in Myrtle Beach near 9th Avenue N.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Crews continue searching for a missing swimmer with drone pilots conducting aerial searches, according to the Myrtle Beach Fire Department.

Myrtle Beach police Master Cpl Thomas Vest told News13 the swimmer was reported missing in the area of 9th Avenue North. He said police consider it to be a missing person investigation right now. 

As of Tuesday morning, crews resumed their normal beach patrols. They also have their drone pilots conducting aerial searches, a fire department official said.

Around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Capt. Christian Sliker told News13 the search would be suspended until the morning due to darkness. Capt. Sliker said Myrtle Beach Police Department units patrol the beach at night and will continue to monitor the situation.
