Doctor from Hartsville convicted of violating drug distribution law

HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – A doctor from Hartsville has been convicted of violating the drug distribution law.

John Webb, 42, of Hartsville, was convicted on Tuesday on three counts of violating the drug distribution law, according to a press release from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. A circuit court judge sentenced him to “one year in prison suspended upon service of 90 days with the balance to be 240 hours community service and one year on probation.”

Webb was a licensed physician and will no longer be able to practice medicine, the release said. “Evidence showed that Webb had prescribed four controlled substances to family members and friends outside the scope of his practice.”
