Florence County deputies responded to a report of a robbery and an attempted rape on Saturday.
A report from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a residence on Trey Chase Drive in Florence around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The report says a female victim told officers she and a male victim “rode up” to a store at the intersection of N. Irby Street and McIver Road on a moped to get candy. The female victim said two white males with tattoos were in a “red in color Ford SUV” and “started hollering at her.” She also said she recognized these men, but didn’t know their names, and they followed both victims back to their home.
According to the report, the female victim told police when she and the male victim pulled in to their driveway, the male victim went inside to get a gun, which is described as a Benelli shotgun. She says she then went to get her things from the moped and the other males “grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground.” She says they also tried to take her shorts off and took about $2,000 from her pocket.
The report also says a male victim told police he was attacked by the two white males when he “ran outside with the shotgun” and was held in a “choke hold with a 2×4 board.” He also says a third person got of the vehicle and began attacking him.
The female victim says when the other people “got off of her to attack” the male victim, she got into the vehicle and drove off to try to get their attention. She says she drove to a neighbor’s house and threw a phone out of the vehicle’s window. The female victim says she then sped back to her yard, where she noticed the other people still attacking the male victim and was going to run them over, but started “turning donuts in her yard.” She said at this time, she only saw two other people: one who jumped on the hood of the vehicle and the other who “ran up to the driver’s side” of the vehicle, where he reached into the vehicle and “made it stop” and then “grabbed her around the neck and threw her out of the vehicle.” She says these two people then got into the vehicle and left.
The male victim says his gun, a ZTE Android cellphone, and about $200 in cash were taken. The female victim says her “very expensive American flag cowboy hat” was also taken.
Major Michael Nunn, with the FCSO, says an investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been arrested.
