SUMTER, SC (WBTW) – On Monday, agents with the SC Law Enforcement Division arrested a former Sumter police officer accused of coercing and intimidating women to have sexual relations with him while on duty.

A press released from SLED says 35-year-old William McKinley Littlejohn was charged with three counts of misconduct in office. Each of those counts carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

Arrest warrants say the misconduct occurred between January 2015 and December 2015 and the allegations have been corroborated by statements given to SLED agents and officers with the Sumter City Police Department.

Littlejohn was booked at the Sumter- Lee Regional Detention Center.

SLED investigated the case at the request of the Sumter Police Department.
