A fire that started in the deli area of a Walmart near Carolina Forest prompted an evacuation of the store.

According to Tony Casey with Horry County Fire Rescue, firefighters got a call about the fire at 8:30 Friday evening. When they arrived at the Walmart on Middle Ridge Avenue, the store’s fire suppression system had already extinguished the fire.

The store was evacuated. No one was hurt.

Firefighters remain on scene to ventilate the building.

The store manager told a News13 employee that the Fire Marshal has to do an inspection as well as DHEC. That could take several hours before people will be allowed back inside.

The Conway Fire Department assisted in this incident.
