HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 10-year-old girl and her grandfather reported missing Friday night in the Surfside Beach area have been found safe, Horry County police said.

They were being reunited with family members Saturday afternoon, HCPD said.

“The HCPD team would like to share our gratitude for the good samaritan couple who saw the Facebook posts about Katherine and David and stopped to help them change a tire near Camden, which ultimately led to them being located and reunited,” HCPD said in a Facebook post.

Authorities began looking for the two, who had been missing since they were last seen about 5 p.m. Friday when they went to the McDonald’s near Surfside Beach, HCPD said.
