CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police responded to a fight and reports of shots fired at a bar on Saturday.

Officers responded to Big Kahuna’s, located at 3505 Hwy 544 Overpass in the Conway area, for a fight around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to an incident report from the Horry County Police Department. While on the way, dispatch was reportedly notified that there were shots fired.

Upon arriving, two people, who were reportedly being paid by the bar to work security, were still at the scene, the report said. While on scene, officers were reportedly told that there was a fight inside the bar that moved into the parking lot.

“As the fight continued to grow, security deployed pepper spray which did not have the desired result,” the report said. “The crowd eventually dispersed and went to their vehicles.” A victim reportedly heard gun shots being fired and muzzle flashes coming from a vehicle. This person allegedly shot back at the vehicle.

Another victim told police that her vehicle was damaged during the fight, the report adds. Police say they observed her passenger side view mirror was damaged. A BOLO was put out for a suspect vehicle and a SC state trooper located the vehicle on Hwy 501. The trooper began to follow the vehicle until it reportedly stopped at the Waffle house, located at 1030 E. Hwy 501, “where the suspects and arrestee exited the vehicle and entered the restaurant.”

The suspects and arrestee were detained, and police say in the report that while identifying those detained, the arrestee gave false information about his name. Evidence was seized at both Big Kahuna’s and the Waffle House.

Horry County police previously responded to a shots fired call at Big Kahuna’s around 2 a.m. on January 27.

HCPD spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said officers found shell casings at the scene and no injuries were reported in that incident.
