Thousands of people gathered to watch dragon boats race down the lake in Market Common in support of Ground Zero.

52 teams, a total of approximately 1,100 people, raced in the 10th annual Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday.

The Dragon Boat Festival is Ground Zero’s biggest annual fundraiser of the year, according to president Scott Payseur. The Christian organization holds community and youth-centered events at its venue in Downtown Myrtle Beach.

“The first time we did a Dragon Boat Festival, I’d never heard of a dragon boat. So, to see what’s become is very humbling. This festival is a huge blessing for our organization,” said Payseur.
