Hundreds of people gathered by the water to celebrate Murrells Inlet and a blessing of the community.

Belin Memorial United Methodist Church held the 22nd annual Blessing of the Inlet on Saturday. News13’s Nicole Boone emceed the event.

The Blessing of the Inlet started as a blessing for local fisherman to have good catches all year long, and eventually grew to a community-wide event.

The blessing ceremony was conducted by reverends from Belin Memorial. The festival also included more than 150 vendors, including local crafters, food vendors, and nonprofits.

“I’m new to this community but you can tell that but you can tell everybody knows about the blessing and they all come here. I like the ceremony because it warms my heart to have everybody here praying and singing together,” said organizer Deborah Maxson.

Proceeds of the Blessing of the Inlet will go to local missions and charities.
