2 dead, multiple injured after charter bus crashes on I-95 in Virginia

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities say two people are dead and multiple others are injured after a charter bus crashed on Interstate 95 in Prince George County Tuesday morning.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. near Crater Road.

According to state police, the Tao’s Travel Inc. bus overturned at the on-ramp for Exit 45. The bus was headed north on I-95 when it attempted to take the exit ramp. The vehicle ended up running off the left side of the ramp and overturned.

The bus, which was carrying 57 passengers — including the driver — was traveling from Florida to New York, state police said.

One person died at the scene and another person died a few hours later at a nearby hospital. There are still multiple individuals being treated for injuries at area hospitals, state police said.

Prince George County, Va. tweeted that three people are in critical condition.

The north exit ramp is closed, VDOT said, and the off-ramp from I-95 north to Exit 45 is blocked.
