DARLINGTON, S.C. (WBTW) — One woman is facing charges after her child was shot Tuesday evening by another child at an apartment complex on Saleeby Loop in Darlington Tuesday, according to Police Chief Jimmy Davis.

Patricia Ann Storey is charged with five counts of unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person and failure to secure a firearm.

Davis said officers were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. to the Carolina Pointe apartments. Davis said the 3-year-old child was taken to MUSC in Charleston where they underwent surgery on their left shoulder. Davis said the child was in stable condition.

The other child involved is younger than five, Davis said.

The remaining juveniles in the home were released to a family member by the Department of Social Services, and the incident is still under investigation by Darlington police.

Davis said more arrests might be made as the investigation continues.
