One killed after crash on Highway 501 in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was killed Tuesday after a crash on Highway 501 in Marion County, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 5:55 p.m. near Highway 501 and Grady Road, according to troopers. A 2017 GMC pickup truck was sitting at a stop sign on Grady Road and attempted to cross Highway 501 when it was hit by a 2004 Dodge pickup traveling north on Highway 501.

The 2004 Dodge pickup truck hit the 2017 GMC pickup and then hit a light pole. The driver of the 2017 GMC pickup truck was killed in the crash. Their identity hasn’t been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
