Florence man dies after hit-and-run; police search for driver of dark sedan

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A 45-year-old Florence man has died this morning as the result of an earlier hit-and-run.

Police say Donnie Cornelius Boyd, 45, of Harmony Street, succumbed to his injuries in the early morning hours on Monday.

Boyd’s injuries were caused by a hit-and-run in the area of the 900 block of West Darlington Street on May 2, according to police.

Police are still seeking information regarding the collision, which happened at about 11:35 p.m. Boyd was transported to an area hospital by Florence County EMS.

Officers learned that a dark sedan, traveling west on Darlington Street, struck the victim and left the scene. 

This incident is under investigation and no further information is available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Florence Police Department at 843-665-3191.
