TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) — The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating a man’s death after he was tased by a Timmonsville police officer, according to spokesperson Tommy Crosby.

The individual was involved in an altercation with a Timmonsville PD officer and died two days later, Crosby said. The Timmonsville Police Department requested SLED to investigate the incident.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the man as Charles Kevell Green, 33, of Timmonsville.

Green was stopped Thursday for a traffic violation, and after a pursuit, he became involved in a physical altercation with officers, von Lutcken said. Green was given medical assistance on scene but was taken to the hospital and died Saturday.

The body is scheduled for an autopsy at MUSC Charleston, von Lutcken said.
