Two local high schools advance to the state championship for academics

Two local high schools have earned their spots in the state championship for academics.

Twenty-eight teams competed for the right to represent our area in the state tournament. Throughout the day Saturday that number was whittled down to four.

Our own Bob Juback emceed the event at Francis Marion University. Wilson beat Cheraw for the regional, division-one Academic challenge title, and Latta beat Lake View for the division-two championship.

Wilson and Latta will now compete in the state tournament in Rock Hill next Friday, March 29.

Congratulations to them and all the competing teams.
