RED SPRINGS, NC (WBTW) – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday morning on Bryant Road.

Major Anthony Thompson says officers responded to a home at 5:21 a.m. and found 26-year-old Nakoma Deshane Jacobs shot in the chest. Jacobs was taken to the hospital, but later died.

Over the course of the investigation, officials determined that robbery was the motive for the shooting. Thompson says the victim had personal belongings including jewelry and a firearm taken from him.

The release from Thompson says Daniel Richard Cummings, 30, is the primary suspect wanted by authorities. Cummings has been charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, discharge weapon into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon.

There is another unknown person of interest officers are still trying to identify.
