MAXTON, NC (WBTW) – A man has been arrested after another man was assaulted with a gun and tied up with electrical cables in Robeson County.
Robeson County deputies responded to the 100 block of Treasure Dr. in Maxton around 7:08 a.m. on Wednesday in reference to a robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to a press release from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
A man was inside his home when the suspects knocked at his door, the release said. The victim was familiar with the one of the suspects, and opened the door. He was “assaulted with a firearm and tied up with electrical cables.”
The suspects allegedly stole “a white 2002 Tahoe, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Prism, money and Zippo lighter of the value of $10,570.00.”
On Thursday, the RCSO Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants for Mario M. Hernandez, 33, of Leland, North Carolina, according to the report. Hernandez was arrested on Friday by the Wilmington Police Department. He is charged with “conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, second degree kidnapping, first degree burglary and misdemeanor assault.”
Hernandez was placed in the New Hanover Detention Center and received a $500,000 secured bond.
The 2002 Tahoe was located by the WPD.
An investigation is ongoing and “more arrests are likely.”
